Babymoon Part 4: Canary Island Cruise - At Sea, Málaga, Spain & Return to Barcelona

After leaving the islands, we had another at sea day [Day 9] as we made our way back to mainland Spain through the Strait of Gibraltar.  It was another lazy, but choppy day.  I loved being rocked by the boat.  I think some people were affected by the swells.  We really enjoyed listening to the Souled Out band and did so many times throughout the cruise.

On Day 10, we arrived in Málaga on mainland Spain.  My foot was still really hurting so we were glad to see the hop on-hop off bus picked you up at the pier.  We rode the bus up to Gastillo de Gibralfaro and checked out the cool old fortress.

We had lunch at Plaza de la Merced then wondered cute streets and toured the awesome Alazaba and Roman ruins.  We were on the waitlist to see Alahambra as part of a cruise tour, but never got a spot.  While I was sad we did not get to visit that site, I was very happy with the places we were able to tour.

After the ruins, we finished the hop on hop off bus route and were dropped off back at the boat.

Day 11 was supposed to be a stop at Alacante, but the winds were too high to port, so we had an impromptu at sea day instead.  Saw a sign that apparent winds were 57 knots (almost 66 MPH).  One swell even splashed its way up to the 12th floor windows as we hung out at Galaxy Bar!

impromptu at sea day - we could see land but not port

The next morning [Day 12] we arrived back in Barcelona and had to disembark.  There was no time to sight see this round.  Instead we immediately got off the boat and headed to the airport for the next step in our babymoon adventure - Amsterdam!
