Bangkok/Myanmar Trip [part 6]: Bikes and Sunset Boat Ride by U Bein Bridge

Day Five we woke to the skyline of Sagain.  We loaded up in tuktuk trucks to make it up a huge hill to a beautiful temple overlooking the region with panoramic views.  Next stop was a nunnery.  The nuns chanted for us and we got to ask the head nun questions.

Check out this schedule!

It was then time to hop back on the boat for lunch and then another short bus ride to the bike ride starting spot.  We got back on the saddle with Grasshopper biking for an afternoon ride through more villages.  This trip was more congested with traffic because we were getting closer to Mandalay.

We saw old pagodas, traditional horse drawn carriages and a silk weaving factory in Amarapaura.  The weaving town had tons of factories and was very noisy!

The ride ended with delicious snacks and a walk along the U Bein Bridge.  No handrails!  The day ended on small boats on the lake overlooking the sun as it set behind the bridge.  What a treat - complete with champagne from our captain!
