The next morning we rushed to Fox Glacier (4.5 hrs away) without stopping to learn our heli-hike had been scrubbed due to weather. Our heli-hike was bumped to the next day at lunch instead, weather pending. We checked into Fox Glacier Top 10 Holiday Park (nice and clean) and then decided to hike to the glacier view point. I could have spent more time in this cute little town of Fox Glacier.

Glacier viewpoint hike:
The next morning we hiked to a view point at Lake Matheson, but the clouds obscured the reflection of Mt. Cook on the lake.

Well, mother nature bested us again and our flight was grounded for a second time, but we had to keep moving north. After a peanut butter and honey sandwich, we hit the road to
Abel Tasman National Park. The coast along the way was gorgeous and we had a quick stop for a hike at
Punakaiki (Pancake Rocks) to see the neat limestone formations.
We then had a quick bite to eat at Berlins Cafe as we continued north.
The last bit of scenic road to Abel Tasman was fantastic. Hop fields lined some of the road.
