On Day Two the group piled onto tour buses to tour three famous temples in Bagan. After our long bike ride the day before, the group seemed to almost welcome a bus ride. Aung was our guide most of the week and he was fantastic. Zaw was fun too!
Shwezigon Pagoda (
ရွှေစည်းခုံစေတီ) is a gorgeous golden temple with a marble pathway surrounding it. Despite the heat, the marble was cool on your feet. We watched a prayerful procession and heard the bells ring.

The sound from these bells has a calming ring.

Stopped in Htilominlo Pahto (
ထီးလိုမင်းလိုဘုရား) to tour the red bricked temple. Here we enjoyed tasty coconut water and the old temple.

The last stop on the guided temple tour was at Ananda Temple (
အာနန္ဒာစေတီ). It was beautiful!
Upon returning to the boat we had another delicious meal and then had the chance to explore Bagan via e-bikes (think electric Vespas). I'm sure Nate was nervous for folks zipping about the town on scooters, but we all did great! I even drove my own scooter! We tried getting lost driving down tiny dirt and very sandy roads to find some remote temples. Remember, there are like 3000 in Bagan!
After riding around a couple hours, we stopped in for some mango sticky rice at Wetherspoons. We also happened upon a very interesting funeral parade and I missed out on photos since I was driving the scooter.
Towards the end of the afternoon the lighting on the temples was incredible! But it was time to head back to the boat for the evening for dinner and hanging out with our new friends.
